HM Revenue and Customs expansion

We are pleased to report that HM Revenue and Customs have now expanded the team of officers that is responsible for processing the claims submitted on behalf of the motor trade. The initial indications are that this team is taking a pragmatic view in verifying claims, which should ensure that claims are processed promptly. In addition, we understand that the motor dealer claims are being fast-tracked once they are approved, which is also helping to reduce the time taken to process repayments to dealers.
In relation to compound interest, we can advise that a full hearing of the case will take place in the High Court during February 2009. A full hearing in the VAT Tribunal has also been listed for June of 2009.
